RESUMO

The present study focuses the Pedagogy Course of a private faculty located in the North Region of Brazil. It aims to identify the reflect of the pedagogical concept and practices of the teachers on the professional activities of the graduated, themselves teachers in the initial years of the elementary school. It was applied the Case Study method, although in a restrict way, covering only the constitution of the Pedagogical Course, the teachers and the graduated. The literature reviewed covered the evolution of the teaching profession and the formation of the pedagogue in Brazil, mainly the initial formation of these professionals. The study describes the profile of teachers and graduates, their conception of learning, the teaching methods they use in classroom, as well as the difficulty they feel in their daily work, in order to obtain a framework of the Pedagogy Course. As a result, is point out that the obstacles felt by the graduates in their profession are related mainly to the conception of the Pedagogy Course, which in spite of the several reforms it has undergone, still can be characterizes by the multiplicity of habilitations it offers with the same curriculum, which leads to the fragmentation of the knowledge and the superficiality of the contents.
