25. Partial purification and characterization of serine and cysteine proteases of Sitophilus zeamais (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) / Purificação e caracterização parciais de serino e cisteíno proteases de Sitophilus zeamais (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
Serine and cysteine proteases of a susceptible and two resistant strain (one with a cost associated with resistance and other without cost) of the maize weevil Sitophilus zeamais were partially purified using an affinity column of aprotinin-agarose . The highest purification factor was obtained for the resistant no-cost strain, 51.20x, with a yield of 14.8%

26. Caracterização bioquímica de amêndoas cruas e torradas de chichá ( Sterculia striata A. St. Hill &Naudin) / Biochemical characterization of raw and roasted almonds of chichá ( Sterculia striata A. St. Hill &Naudin)
Many species from Cerrado remain unknown in their biochemical characteristics and in their potential for food processing. This work had as objective to characterize the almond of chichá from the specie Sterculia striata A. St. Hill &Naudin, originated from Corrente (Piauí) in their biochemical components, analyze the changes in the chemical composition and

27. Enzimas de organismos aquÃticos e suas aplicaÃÃes fisiolÃgicas
In the last years, there has been a general increase in human demand for fishery products, followed by a significant increase in the world production of aquatic organisms. The growth of fishery industry generates, as consequence, large amounts of wastes and by-products rich in biomolecules, which are discharged into envioronment. Fishery wastes can be used i

28. Estudo da farinha e da goma de algaroba (Prosopis spp.) / Study of the flour and of the gum the algaroba (Prosopis spp.)
The algarroba (Propopis spp.), a Leguminous tree found in arid and semi-arid regions of Bolivia and Brazil, is underused, mainly due to lack of knowledge of its chemical, physical and functional characteristics. The objective of this study was to determine the chemical composition of the fruit of different species of algarrobo from Bolivia and Brazil, to mak

29. Purification and characterization of trypsin inhibitor from Cicer arietinum L. and its efficacy against Helicoverpa armigera
Protease inhibitors in legumes are one of the most promising weapons that confer resistance against insects by inhibiting proteases present in the gut of insect larvae. In the present study, trypsin inhibitor activity was detected in the seed flour extracts of 10 selected varieties of chickpea. The presence of inhibitor was confirmed by dot blot analysis. Al

30. Purification and characterization of the aprotinin from porcine lung. / Purificação e caracterização da aprotinina obtida de pulmão suíno.
Aprotinin, an acid stable serine proteinase inhibitor with a molecular mass of 7 kDa, is used as a reagent or drug. The purification of the aprotinin from porcine lungs was the main objective of this work. Three procedures were used. The first one utilized the trypsin-agarose column. The tangential ultra filtration and trypsin-Sepharose column were used in t

31. Efeito de um inibidor de tripsina de sementes de Plathymenia foliolosa sobre o desenvolvimento e atividade enzimatica de Anagasta kuehniella / Effect of a trypsin inhibitor from Plathymenia foliolosa seeds on Anagasta kuehniella development and enzymatic activity
Proteinase inhibitors (PIs) are widely distributed in animals, microorganisms, and plants. Plant PIs are generally small proteins that have mainly been described as occurring in storage tissues, such as tubers and seeds, but they have also been found in the aerial parts of plants, in the leaves, flowers and roots. The possible roles suggested for seed protei

32. Proteases digestivas do hepatopÃncreas dos camarÃes marinhos Farfantepenaeus subtilis e Farfantepenaeus paulensis
Farfantepenaeus subtilis and Farfantepenaeus paulensis are native shrimp species and appear as an alternative to Litopenaeus vannamei cultivation, which represents more than 90% of the farmed shrimp in the Northeast of Brazil. Proteases from hepatopancreas of F. subtilis juveniles and adults and F. paulensis juveniles were studied according to the following

34. ImobilizaÃÃo de tripsina de TilÃpia NilÃtica (Oreochromis niloticus) em Dacron ferromagnÃtico: caracterizaÃÃo do derivado e sua aplicaÃÃo na detecÃÃo de inibidores de protease
Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is the most produced fish in Brazilian aquaculture, originating byproducts (viscera) that can be used as a source of biomolecules with potential use in biotechnology. In this work trypsin from tilapia intestine was covalently immobilized onto ferromagnetic Dacron (polyethyleneterephthalate or PET) via glutaraldehyde, char

35. Efeito do consumo de farinha de linhaça (Linum usitatissimum) no crescimento de ratos Wistar e relação com a digestibilidade de globulinas e fatores antinutricionais protéicos
Linseed is an important oilseed consumed raw as nutritional supplement, that although represents a rich source of nutrients, its nutritional value could be impaired due to the presence of antinutritional factors. In this study, protein fractions from raw linseed flour were extracted and isolated being obtained 12% of albumins, 82% of globulins, 5% of gluteli
