25. Tunable Photochemical/Redox Properties of (Phenylthio)ncorannulenes: Application to a Photovoltaic Device
The additive substituent effect of phenylmercapto derivatives of corannulene are investigated by spectroscopic, electrochemical, and computational techniques. The per-substituted phenylmercaptocorannulene is incorporated as a replacement for [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) in a photovoltaic device.

26. LINEAR STABILITY ANALYSIS AND CFD SIMULATION OF DOUBLE-LAYER RAYLEIGH-BÉNARD CONVECTION
Abstract Natural convection in superimposed layers of fluids heated from below is commonly observed in many industrial and natural situations, such as crystal growth, co-extrusion processes and atmospheric flow. The stability analysis of this system reveals a complex dynamic behavior, including the potential multiplicity of stationary states and occurrence o

27. Sida tuberculata (Malvaceae): a study based on development of extractive system and in silico and in vitro properties
Sida tuberculata (Malvaceae) is a medicinal plant traditionally used in Brazil as an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent. Here, we aimed to investigate the different extractive techniques on phytochemical parameters, as well as to evaluate the toxicity and antioxidant capacity of S. tuberculata extracts using in silico and in vitro models. Therefore, i

28. Geometry and head loss in Venturi injectors through computational fluid dynamics
ABSTRACT To determine the influence of geometry on the hydrodynamic behavior of Venturi injectors, using computational fluid dynamics techniques, we studied, at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain, the geometric parameters that exert the most influence on head losses: the relationship between throat diameter and nozzle (β), nozzle ang

29. An Implementation of Self-Organizing Maps for Airfoil Design Exploration via Multi-Objective Optimization Technique
ABSTRACT Design candidates obtained from optimization techniques may have meaningful information, which provides not only the best solution, but also a relationship between object functions and design variables. In particular, trade-off studies for optimum airfoil shape design involving various objectives and design variables require the effective analysis t

30. CFD 2D Description of Local Flow of Polymer Workpiece through a modified U-Shaped Die During Equal Channel Multiple Angular Extrusion
The present article is focused on a 2D computational fluid mechanics study of local viscous flow dynamics and the formation character of rotary modes of deformation during Equal Channel Multiple Angular Extrusion (ECMAE) of a polymer workpiece fluid model through a U-shaped die with parallel slants in channel intersection zones. The present local flow proble

31. A simple approach to calculate active power of electrosurgical units
Abstract Introduction: Despite of more than a hundred years of electrosurgery, only a few electrosurgical equipment manufacturers have developed methods to regulate the active power delivered to the patient, usually around an arbitrary setpoint. In fact, no manufacturer has a method to measure the active power actually delivered to the load. Measuring the d

32. A benchmark study on intelligent sampling techniques in Monte Carlo simulation
In recent years, new, intelligent and efficient sampling techniques for Monte Carlo simulation have been developed. However, when such new techniques are introduced, they are compared to one or two existing techniques, and their performance is evaluated over two or three problems. A literature survey shows that benchmark studies, comparing the performance of

33. One-Stage Power Turbine Preliminary Design and Analysis
ABSTRACT: Design and development of gas turbine components are a complex multidisciplinary process. At the beginning of the power class definition and engine configuration it is necessary to conduct a market study. The results obtained are used in gas turbine thermodynamic cycle calculations and analysis in order to define the gas turbine design point. Sever

34. Collision-Induced Dissociation Analysis of Brevianamide A and C in Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Brevianamides A and C are isomeric cyclic peptides with several reported biological activities, isolated from diverse microorganisms. Currently, there has been no previous investigation of brevianamide fragmentation utilizing electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). In this work experiments were carried out in the positive mode using two different

35. Effect of the Fiber Orientation Relatively to the Plasma Flow Direction in the Ablation Process of a Carbon-Phenolic Composite
ABSTRACT: Composite materials are vastly employed in rocket nozzle extensions and as thermal protection shields in aerospace industry. In both cases, ablative and thermal properties play an important role for material choice and equipment sizing. These properties are strongly dependent on the way the pieces are manufactured. For the case of nozzle extensions

36. Diseño y predicción del funcionamiento de inyectores Venturi en riego localizado
The design and prediction performance of four Venturi injector prototypes have been studied using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques. Results were compared with experimental tests carried out in the laboratory of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain. The analysed and selected geometries for each prototype were used to simulat
