RESUMO

This research that 1 realized through analysis from activities developed by the Environrnental Education Project Areia and Areia Branca (Micro-basins Project), had the participation of teachers from public schools located at Campinas city - State ofSão Paulo. So, this study mostly tries to show the importance of fieldwork as a methodology that was used by them. 1 also insert in this study the activities developed by the Dynamic Museum Decentralization Project, considered in my opinion as a promoter of micro-basins project, and also the contributions from the Micro-basins Project especially the activity: Geology on the road. 1 realized a bibliographic survey too, about fieldwork in geography publications, in order to show its importance as a field of study and as a study of the field, to improve teaching, to develop an educational potential for new methodologies. As far as 1 am concerned, the main importance of fieldwork as a methodology in teaching practices occurs when it is able to subsidy the real Environrnental Education actions. It can contribute for a new perception of river basin as a geographical space suitable for studies of environrnent and water management. So far, the fundamental contribution 1 intend to offer with this work is the need for a deep reflection about fieldwork, as a matter of environrnental education that could be able to inc1ude activities in river basins, considering it is a subject to discuss environrnental problems and as a place to make possible the interdisciplinarity - a good mechanism to improve teaching quality
