RESUMO

Usually the literature about physical education presents sport as a hegemonic practice that started in the military dictatorship in Brazil. However with the decline of the regime, this practice received a lot of critiques. In order to understand this relationship we investigated this well-known affirmative in the field, having as an objective the identification and the analysis of the reasons that contributed to the consolidation of sport as a hegemonic practice in the physical education on the second half of the 20th century in Brazil. This narrative was composed by three complement moments. Initially we tried to identify the mark that concentrates the stimulating factors of sports and the established relationship between the same. Next, we tried to know the laws about education, physical education and sport as indicators that influenced the school practice, and at last we accomplished a critique about the developed thought in the literature of the field that associates the hegemony of sport to the period of the military dictatorship in Brazil. For that, we utilized as a source the Brazilian Legislation, as well books from authors that get close to this theme, which give support in the accomplishment of the setup of this narrative. With the perspective of understanding History at long term, disarticulating the accomplished associations between political periods and the constitution of History, as well perceiving the legislation while language and social practice, disassociating the placed character common known in the laws. Nevertheless, the study indicated another comprehension. The insertion of sport in the physical education, the creation of the âEscola Nacional de EducaÃÃo FÃsica e Desportoâ (National School of Physical Education and Sport), the structured legislative skeleton during the âEstado Novoâ period (New State) for sport, besides urbanization, emergent means of communication and industrialization, mainly, from the second half of the 20th century as reasons that contributed with the constitution of sport as a hegemonic practice in physical education
