RESUMO

Water is one of the most important natural resources in the development of various regions on Earth. Without it several activities are impossible, from household necessities to countries socio-economic development. Regulating such resource effectively for the benefit of the population, both in quantity and in quality, is the authorities biggest challenge that becomes even more complex considering the ageing of water supply infrastructures and the distribution systems, mostly, that later present various structural and hydraulic problems. Thus, a bibliographic research on information systems, decision support and the understanding of a planning difficulty during network supplies enhancement was established in this paper, where existing technologies actions and problems were found, and the network supply information and monitoring systems observed throughout, with a better decision support concerning the problem analyzed. This thesis offers a microcosm of information system and decision to effectively assist administrators in their projects of enhancing water supply distribution systems
