RESUMO

The purpose of this present work is to investigate the influences of school stigmas in the students identity construction process, produced by the fact they are considered dyslexic. From the verification from that the notion of the dyslexia suffered an improper supergeneralization, applying itself indiscriminately to all and any alteration with the reading and writing, without taking in account possible causes, characteristics and context of these alterations. We understand that these elements cannot pass unfurnished while influence in the development of the personality and the pertaining to school performance of the students. The investigation occurred through the collection of three students narratives from distinct school grades and phases and from different school institutions. The theoric reference present aspects related to: dyslexia, identity, social labels, stigma and prejudices, as well as to development and learning principles focused on Vygotskys studies. As for the methodology, we used the Narrative Research, understanding that its related to the theoric approaches. The narratives were recorded and conducted with a semistructured script, working as a guideline only and allowing the freedom of expression of the narratives, during the interviews. The data processing and analysis were interpreted using the Proses Analysis by André (1983), assuming that this approach is appropriate to the purposes of the narrative research. From the interviewees reports, results showed us that the elements: self-concept or self-identity, self-image and self-esteem, which develop in the social interactions, mainly pertaining to school, were, in their construction, affected by stigmas, labels and prejudices, and as a consequence, they reflected in the identity construction process.
