13. Molecular determinants of sequential polyethism in Apis mellifera.

14. Physicochemical composition of pure and adulterated royal jelly
The physicochemical composition of pure royal jelly as well as of some adulterated samples was analyzed by determining moisture, ash, lipids, nitrogen/proteins, carbohydrates, starch and 10- HDA (10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid). The solubility in alkaline medium was used to detect the main frauds for adulterating royal jelly which comprise addition of yogurt, wa

18. Evaluation of Apis mellifera Carniolan and Africanized honey bees in royal jelly production

19. Simultaneous high performance liquid chromatographic analysis of vitamins B1, B2 and B6 in royal jelly

The aim of this paper was to determine the 10-HDA in pure royal jelly and products containing royal jelly, using HPLC methodology. 10-HDA is the natural indicator of the presence of royal jelly in products and also gives the authenticity of pure royal jelly. The chromatographic conditions used were: isocratic system, C18-H column, auto sampler, diode array U

We evaluated in this work the effects of Royal Jelly (RJ) on growth and differentiation of bone marrow and spleen hematopoietics progenitors in Listeria monocytogenes (LM) infected mice. We also evaluated serum colonystimulating activity, alterations in spleen weight and animal resistance front to the infection. In such way, BALB/c mice were profilacticly tr

The aim of this paper was to compare methods of moisture determination to choose the best one for the determination of this parameter in royal jelly samples. Royal jelly is sensitive to high temperatures becoming dark and loosing volatiles in high temperatures. The methods were: vacuum oven at 60 ºC, 70 ºC, conventional oven at 105 ºC, Karl Fisher, dissec

Alterations in the hematopoietic response are common in both human and animal tumor system. Thus, in this work we have investigated the hematopoietic response of tumor-bearing mice treated with Royal JelIy, employing the well established Ehrlich ascites tumour (EAT) experimental model. Royal Jelly (RJ) was given orally (500, 1000 and 1500 mg/kg) in a prophyl

24. THE ORIGIN OF THE NUCLEIC ACID BASES FOUND IN THE ROYAL JELLY OF THE HONEYBEE
The discovery that the royal jelly of the honeybee contains large quantities of nucleic acids raises the question, “Where do these nucleic acids come from?” A review of pertinent literature strongly suggests that the same mechanism is involved as in the case of the extrachromosomal DNA of amphibian oocytes.
