RESUMO

This research had the aim to understand as the 8th grade - ensino fundamental II students, from a private school in São Paulo stand for the adolescence and what they think about school: what they like at the school where they study, what school is, the space of the classroom and what would be the ideal. This study is justified because there are few academic researches that talk about these subjects, most of them with aspects related to the learning and the behaviour of the students and because we need to know more about their feelings to the school, to understand the relation to the knowledge that they show and search ways to contribute to a more effective pedagogical practice. The collect of the data included a questionnaire with open questions, applied to 172 students, about 14 years old. Theorically the students are adolescents, these data were analysed based on Henri Wallon psychogenetic. The conclusions point to an adolescent feeling as a period of freedom and discoveries. The students notice that there is the necessity of responsibility, but they understand it is the happiest period of their lives. In this context, the school assumes a role related to their learning, associated to a place of relationships, many times mistaken with their second home. Saying about the classroom, the students notice this place like part of the living-room (relationships) or a place to develop their roles as students (pay attention to the class and do what the teacher wants). There are feelings of happiness and respect about the school where they are inserted, be a student totally seen by everyone, it means, satisfaction. The dream school many times assumes characteristics of the present school of these students.
