RESUMO

Background: Increased plasma triglyceride-rich lipoprotein (chylomicrons, VLDL and LDL) concentration, as well as the delay in their removal, has been associated with coronary artery diseases (CVD). The postprandial lipaemia is related to peripheral vascular changes, stimulated by inflammatory markers and enhanced by oxidative metabolism of low density lipoproteins. Repeated exposure to these markers may promote the long term damage to the endothelial wall, resulting in atherosclerosis. Exercise has proven to be effective in decreasing postprandial triglyceridemia (TGPP). Purpose: this study compared the effects of continous (15% under anaerobic threshold) and intermittent (15% above anaerobic threshold) exercise on postprandial lipemia. Methods: subjects were 20 active males aged (22,5 3,7), normolipemic, physically active, who performed a maximal test on a treadmill and then randomly assigned to continuous exercise, intermittent exercise and control on three different days. After each section of the exercise subjects ingested a hyperlipemic drink, followed by blood sampling every hour during a period of four hours. It was measured triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL and insulin. The LPP was analyzed by the kinetics of the variables measured. For statistical analysis a tree-way ANOVA and post-hoc Bonferroni was used. Results: The intermittent exercise significantly attenuated TGPP compared to control day (p <0.036), whereas the continuous exercise, did not demonstrate the same efficiency. Conclusion: Young adults and physically active changed little for the concentrations of total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and VLDL triglycerides during the post - prandial (TGPP), demonstrating significant reduction tirgliceídeos post - prandial when performing intermittent exercise 115% LA. Demonstrating efficiency in reducing triglycerides in relation to physical exercise 85% LA.
