RESUMO

The main objective of present research is to analyze the social capital from the associative movement of municipality of PetrolÃndia, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. For in such a way, an empirical research was made with 24 entities between associations, cooperatives and an investigation on localâs social-historic factors of incentive to the creation of social capital, using the theoretical paradigms of rational choice and neoinstitutionalism historic. Main the theoretical referencial congregates authors as Putnam, Coleman, Fukuyama and Tocqueville, and in the Brazilian literature Avrizter and Elenaldo Teixeira. The dissertation claim the attention for the difference between the spontaneous capital social and the induced social capital, the first one sprouted spontaneously of the social movements and the second, created from the incentive of institutions as the State and the Church Catholic, in this study, induced social capital was implemented specifically in the case studied in relation the deliberative bodies for implementation of public politics, analyzing the empowerment of the mechanisms of participative democracy
