RESUMO
This dissertation aims to reproduce the collapse behavior by hydration of a collapsible soil of PetrolÃndia municipality through a coupled hydro-mechanical modeling by finite element method. The experimental site was in an agricultural school which presented damages caused by collapse of the foundation soil. Souza Neto (2004) carried out a series of laboratory tests with this soil in order to get the parameters need for numerical simulation by a finite element code using an elastoplastic constitutive model (BBM) developed to reproduce the collapse behavior of unsaturated soils. Edometric tests with constant suction and with vertical stress loading and unloading (EDSC) and edometric with constant vertical stress and suction variation (EDSV) were analyzed. Later on it was carried out the simulation of an in situ test named expansocolapsometer, which allows the measurement of the field settlements of a small plate inserted at any depth inside an auger boring hole. Five tests were performed at 1,0m depth, changing only the stress level at wetting for each one of them. The computational code used was ODE_BRIGHT (Olivella et al., 1996) which reproduced in a coherent way the collapse achieved in situ
