RESUMO

This work aims to analyze the intellectual dispositions of a small group of intellectuals: the social scientists who teach at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). For this purpose, interviews focusing on social scientistsâ intellectual shaping were carried on. These interviews have shown aspects which are important to reveal the intellectual dispositions of the group inquired. These aspects are the following: (1) the tendency of use categories drawn from intellectual environment; (2) and the accounts on the importance of literature to intellectual life
