RESUMO

The present work carries trough a study on school and occupational trajectories and relations of gender of women workers of the city of Alagoinhas, Bahia, Brazil, with focus in practical of the Adult and Young Education (fundamental level) integrated with Vocational Training in the scope of the Program âIntegrarâ of the National Confederation of the Metal Workers (CNM/CUT). In this direction, it analyzes from the objective relations of gender, the objective factors (characteristic and conditions of life and work) and subjective factors (motivations, interests and perspectives) that they had influenced the access and permanence of these women of the popular layers in the courses of the Adult and Young Education, as well as its aspirations to the continuity of the studies, besides trying to understand as the school and the conclusion of the fundamental level of education has contributed for the life of these women. As conceptual base for the analysis, it was chosen category Gender, while historical and relational category, always dialoguing with the categories Work and Education. The material of the research was collected mainly by means of interviews with women workers what concluded the fundamental level, moreover, had been analyzed documents, as daily of classroom and files of school registration. The conclusions from the outcomes of the research show that the increase of schooling is a basic pre-requisite to empower women in all social spheres. Therefore, it is necessary to guarantee an education of quality for boys and girls, women and men as well, so that the laws that assure the rights for education are accomplished. Besides education, employment is fundamental to overcome the poverty in which these female workers live. What is meant by employment, is a productive well-paid occupation, under a safe and free environment and able to guarantee dignity for women
