RESUMO

Papillomaviruses are a wide viruses family associated to epiteliotropic lesions and affecting also mucous tissues, causing benign tumors that can suffer malignization. The bovine papilomatosis is an economicaly important desease, since undervaluate cattle to be selled out. Although epidemiological data are unavailable, based on local farmers the incidence of the deseace in Pernambuco state is high. The goal of this work was the detection and typification of bovine papilomavirus (BPV) by PCR in cutaneous warts samples collected from animals affected in a milk production farm. Were analysed samples from 36 cutaneous warts of 23 bovine (Bos taurus). Results has shown that primers MY09/11 and FAP59/64 for general detection of BPV are not very efficient, once they failed to detect BPV in 58,34% and 61,12% of papillomatous lesions. However, PCR using specific typification primers detected the presence of at least one papillomavirus type in each of all analysed samples, showing a high incidence of BPV-2 and 3 types in the studied animals. Moreover, the results show the existence of coinfection in 89% of the samples by BPV-2 and 3 and triple infection by BPV-2, 3 and 4 in 25% of the total studied samples. This results confirm the presence of diffrerent bovine papillomavirus (BPV) types in cattle affected by cutaneous papillomas and suggest that BPV-2 may be the more frequent
