RESUMO

The objective of this investigation was to understand the possibilities and limits of a pedagogical experience in an interdisciplinary perspective, accomplished through work projects, in the construction of teachers knowledge at a school scope. The experience was developed in the Instituto de Educação Ivoti/RS (Institute of Education of Ivoti/RS), where the collective work of production and application of the project Missões Jesuíticas took place, with participation of teachers and senior students from high school, in the first semester of 2006. In the investigation of this experience, my intention was to understand the role of the geographic knowledge linked to the knowledge of different disciplines of the curriculum and the possibilities of work projects that were accomplished in an interdisciplinary perspective, in the construction of teachers knowledge in the school environment and in the changes in their pedagogical practices. In the inquiry process, the e-mails exchanged among teachers in the planning phase of the collective work, during the project development, when the project was carried out and evaluated, in the interviews carried through with the teachers, as well as the notes of the field diary, were analyzed in a hermeneutic perspective. The theoretical referential was focused on the evolution of geographic thought and on its consequences in education, on the issues of the construction of knowledge and the interdisciplinarity, on the pedagogical beddings of work projects and on the teachers knowledge. As basis of interlocution, I worked with the production of authors such as Santos, Tardif, Pimenta, Fazenda, Japiassú, Palmade, Castrogiovanni, Costella, Freire, Gonçalves, Hernández, Ventura, Gadamer, Flickinger, among others. The theoretical studying allowed me to deduce that Geography, in cultural and critical perspective, may be a link of an interdisciplinary pedagogical practice as it promotes further dialogue among different areas of knowledge. The main results show us that the teachers realize they have built different kinds of cognizance in the accomplishment of the project Missões Jesuíticas. Among these different kinds of cognizance, a better deepening of each teachers knowledge of his/her own discipline and the enlargement of the knowledge of other disciplines involved in the project can be highlighted. The study shows that the teachers developed knowledge related to pedagogical practices and ethical knowledge, as a stimulus to dialogue, cooperation, friendship, respect and mutual recognition. Some limits that were found are related to students financial problems and to teachers lack of available time, since they also work at other schools. This research allowed me to conclude that the accomplishment of an interdisciplinary experience at school through work projects favors the development of a teacher who reflects about his/her practice and gives emphasis to research, collective work and to a teaching/learning process full of creativity and discovery
