RESUMO

Our research about the Homeless Workersâ Movement (MTST â Movimento dos Trabalhadores Sem-Teto) aims to connect the famous questions âhowâ and âwhyâ the actors take part in this collective action, in a dialogue with the Melucciâs analytical model. The general objective is point out the formation of collective identity, inside in the contradictions of the capitalist society, in terms of labour power reproducition and capital acumulation, from the land rent, with the interference of the State. In this way, we analyse the urbanization proccess in Brazil e in the city of Recife, in particular. The emergence of the movement is conditionated by the structural factors, internal process and the political context. The internal proccess shapes the collective identity. It envolves the conceptions about politics project, organizative proccess and motivations of the individuals for the participation. The leadershipÂs discourse, that to occupy waste lands and the resistance as the only way to obtain a house, gives shape to the motivations, conceptions and goals of the moviment. We observed the relationship with the Landless Workers Movement (MST, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Sem-Terra) and Labour Party (Partido dos Trablahadores, PT) as reference to the a political project and articulation strategic
