RESUMO

This was an exploratory study on the participation of school community in the fulfillment of the Political and Pedagogical Project â PPP of schools controlled by the local city Government of Montes Claros-MG. The general objective was to investigate the participation of the elementary school community in the development and practice of the political and Pedagogical Project â PPP. Conceptions and principles were particularly studied. Interfering factors and school community participation in the process of development and practice of the project were also identified. The methodology used was one exploratory study, of a qualitative type. Interviews and questionnaires were carried out in five local public schools, which were carried out in five local public schools controlled by the City Government of Montes Claros. Documents analysis, questionnaires to school staff, to students and their parents, interviews with schools principals, vice-principals and supervisors were some techniques used along the research. The lack of investments, of enough funds and assistance to schools by the government, and also the lack of autonomy to fulfill the proposed PPP were some difficulties detected. The general conclusion is that an entire participation of the school community is paramount for the development and practice of the Political and Pedagogical Project.
