RESUMO

Artificial recharge in aquifers may be employed to increase groundwater storage and availability, salinization control in coastal aquifers and land subsidence. Recife coastal Plain (PE) multiaquifer system consists of two deep confined aquifers, Cabo and Beberibe, with half- confined characteristics, covered by a phreatic aquifer, Boa Viagem. The excessive drawdown of the potentiometric levels in the aquifers, due mainly to dryness of 1992/1993 and 1998/1999, their potenciometrics levels come across extremely drawdowns. So, it is highlighted the importance of evaluating the potential of artificial recharge using rainfall as an alternative for recovering the potentiometric levels. The purpose this research is to evaluate the potential of artificial recharge through injections wells for recuperation of potential levels in Cabo aquifer, the most exploted in the Recife plain. For this it was mounted a experiment in pilot scale, where it were realized field tests, for to verify the aquifer response for artificial recharge. So, it was possible to adjust a mathematical model for to simulate several recharge sceneries: 1 â recharge with differents injections rates, 2 â Influence of filter size variation of injection well and 3 â prolonged recharge period (three months). The model implemented can simulate with goods results several recharge sceneries; it necessary to implement regional models for sceneries more complex, that permit to analyze better the recharge effect utilizing several injection wells
