RESUMO

Considering the need for evaluating geometric quality of cartographic documents, for engineering projects development as much as for areas, distances and volumes evaluation, and before the absence of a test methodology for such documents, this work presents a methodology for investigating the geometry reliability of cadastral maps. The methodology consists in associating the satellite positioning technology with topographical instrumentation and procedures as an alternative for the positioning of identified points in the land and in the cadastral map. The satellites positioning technology presents great precision and accuracy in the determination of the position of terrestrial surface points, being restricted to open places, far away from obstacles to satellite signals. The use of procedures and topographical instrumentation supplies that deficiency, using intervisible points, with coordinates determined by satellite positioning technology as geodesic basis for coordinates determination of the verification points of the cartographic positional quality document. The plane coordinates UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) are defined and adjusted in system computer through techniques of coordinates transport on the Cartographic Plan, where each pair of points of known coordinates is used as a geodesic basis for determination of a third point coordinates
