Aspectos do tratamento da oralidade nos livros didáticos de português do ensino fundamental: algumas sugestões.

RESUMO

The objective of this Masters degree dissertation, based upon the language functionalist paradigm, was to analyze the proposed activities of oral text production in two Portuguese book series, recently published, considering the last four years of the Ensino Fundamental. In order to reach this goal, three aspects were taken into consideration. The first one, if the oral text was the starting point of the learning process. The second one, if the concept of discourse genres (textual genres) was evident. Lastly, if the intrinsic oral text features were considered. In both book series chosen for this research, two oral genres were presented: the debate and the seminar. Depending on the level (6th, 7th and 8th year of the Ensino Fundamental), the amount of details given about the content, the composing format and the style varied. Based upon the research findings, the conclusion was that the authors of the books analyzed did aim at working with speaking, but it was still in a limited way and, undoubtedly, the formal written genres were predominant. Some suggestions were given concerning several moments in the books when speaking could have been developed through the following genres: the interview, the short story, the report and the cordel. It was also emphasized that the starting point must be the regular conversations, the prototypical oral genre. Only after contrasting informal and formal oral genres students would be able to practice and produce them in class.
