RESUMO

In spite of the amount of research already conducted in pulse combustion, not all parameters involving its optimization process are fully known for utilization in large scale, in applications that utilize the process with low CO and NOx emissions. This dissertation presents a study on the efficiency of acoustic pulsations in the combustion process of natural gas with air, by comparing the pollutants emission with and without acoustic actuation. The main goal was to obtain adequate work conditions regarding frequencies, pressure amplitudes and equivalence ratios that result in low CO and NOx concentrations. It was found that low pollutants emission is possible in some specific regimes of acoustic actuation and fuel air ratios.
