1. Synthesis of delafossite CuCrO2 via solution combustion method and its acid functionalization for biodiesel production
Abstract CuCrO2 was synthesized by solution combustion synthesis (SCS) and applied as a heterogeneous catalyst to produce soybean biodiesel. The combustion reaction was carried out using urea as a fuel, and copper (II) and chromium (III) nitrates as precursors. After the powders’ obtention, these were calcined and functionalized in an acidic medium. The po

2. Impact of fuel quantity on luminescence properties of Sr3Al2O6:Eu by combustion synthesis
Abstract The photoluminescent behavior of Eu-doped Sr3Al2O6 obtained by highly efficient solution combustion synthesis is reported. In order to understand the influence of the fuel on the synthesis, the stoichiometric quantity and an excess of fuel were evaluated. By adjusting the amount of fuel, different luminescence responses were obtained, allowing europ

3. Innovative gas chromatographic determination of formaldehyde by miniaturized extraction and on-fiber derivatization, via SPME and SPME Arrow
Formaldehyde (FA) is a carbonyl compound, ubiquitous in the environment and among the most widespread pollutants: it has exhibited toxic properties and is classified as a human carcinogen. FA is released from several sources, both temporary (e.g., combustion processes) and permanent (e.g., building products). This work proposes an innovative fully-automated

4. Comparison between barley malt protein quantification methods
Abstract Brazil imports about 60% of all the malt used by the brewing industry which is spread throughout the country. Even though it is an agricultural country, only a small portion of the barley production has the characteristics to produce barley malt for brewing. Seeking supply to the ever-growing demand and reducing the dependency on other countries and

5. Study of structural, optical, and morphological characteristics of manganese titanate (MnTiO3) obtained by combustion reaction using microwave energy
Abstract MnTiO3 is a semiconductor that has relevant dielectric and optical properties. For the synthesis of manganese titanate (MnTiO3) powders, the combustion method via microwave and subsequent calcination at 500, 700, and 900 °C were used. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the samples were investigated. X-ray diffraction analyzes

6. Multivariate Optimization of Extraction Variables of PAH in Particulate Matter (PM10) in Indoor/Outdoor Air at Campos dos Goytacazes, Brazil
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are products of incomplete combustion of biomass and fossil fuels, that are produced on a larger scale by anthropogenic sources. Burning sugarcane plantations can be a source of atmospheric PAH in regions where this culture predominates. Campos dos Goytacazes, Brazil, is surrounded by sugarcane crops that still use fire

7. CARACTERIZAÇÃO FÍSICA E QUÍMICA DA BIOMASSA USADA COMO COMBUSTÍVEL SÓLIDO EM UMA CALDEIRA
Biomass is a renewable energy source most used in the world, however, depending on the chemical properties and origin of the material used as biofuel, the amount of ash generated during combustion can be high, harming the energetic harnessing. The objective of this study was to characterize chemically and physically biomass: bark, sawdust, and urban pruning;

8. A New Energetic Complex: Synthesis, Structure, and Combustion Catalysis Performance
The potential of tetrazole-based ligands for forming energetic complexes applied in pyrotechnics and propellants is demonstrated with the use of 5,5’-(1,3-phenylene)bis(1H-tetrazole) (H2BTB) to generate an energetic complex with high energy. A new energetic complex of PbII-tetrazolate, [Pb2(BTB)2(H2O)8]·5H2O (1), was synthesized and structurally character

9. Antimicrobial High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/ZnO Nanocomposites Obtained by in situ Polymerization
Nanostructured zinc oxide (ZnO) prepared by combustion in solution was used to obtain nanocomposites. The ZnO particles were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), showing crystallite size of 32 nm and a superficial area of 32.6 m2 g-1. Nanocomposites with 1, 3, and 5 wt.% of ZnO in the

10. CeαMn1-αO2 catalysts supported over γ-Al2O3 prepared by modified redox-coprecipitation methods for n-hexane combustion
A series of CeαMn1-αO2 catalysts supported on γ-alumina with various molar concentrations of Ce (α, from 0 to 0.90) was synthesized by coprecipitation, applying two different precipitating agents, namely, sodium hydroxide (method 1) and sodium carbonate (method 2), with the use of sodium permanganate as a redox agent for precipitation. XRD profiles of th

11. Experimental and Theoretical Study of LiMn2O4 Synthesized by the Solution Combustion Method Using Corn Starch as Fuel
Lithium manganese oxide, LiMn2O4, was synthesized in two temperature stages, where the first consisted by an ecofriendly solution combustion method at 300 °C. Finally, the as-burned powders were thermal treated at 500 and 700 °C. The structural and morphological changes were evaluated by the Rietveld method and density functional theory (DFT) calculations.
