RESUMO

This work analyses a penitentiary organization â the ColÃnia Penal Feminina de Recife (CPFR), using fot this purpose Alves Multidimensional-reflevixe model (2003) as instrument of analysis and EtzioniÂs Model as complementary approach. Firstly, there were studied the structural characteristics, coordinating mechanism, organizational agents characteristics and internal relationships of CPFRÂs, besides the social affective behaviour of the female prisoners. On the sequence, it was done the multidimentional reflexive analysis of two aspects interation: the administrative and the female prisonersÂsocial organization, being associated their main features, seeking to analyse all the CPFRÂs, from the administrative one to that spontaneously created. This is a qualitative research and data were collected through documental analysis, semistructured interviews and observation. As conclusion, results have shown that AlvesÂ(2003) Model, which was originally designed to enterprise organizations, shows to be appropriated to comprehend the normative and utilitarist context of this prision. However, this Model presents some limitations for the understading of coercive elements that exists on CPFR. On the other hand, for understanding these authorityÂs non-legitimized elements, EtizioniÂs Model seemed to be more suitable, enlarging the capacity of comprehension about the studied organization
