RESUMO

The present research is focused on the problem of war among countries. The absence of a higher power over the States characterizes the international political system as anarchic. In anarchy there is no government. Without government there is no State and no limits to the use of force. Such absence makes jurisdiction - as state function directed to the resolution of conflicts between individuals - inapplicable in international conflicts. The search for viable alternatives able to resolve this issue is a needed measure. The hypothesis tested argues that the stimulus to the process of international trade liberalization which has a legal system that regulates itself, dismissing the existence of a world State to produce its effects is an efficient response because it expands the ties of interdependence between the countries and it brings nations together. Through techniques of documentary and literature review, the research provides a cut in the large universe where the subject is, confirming the formulated hypothesis. Considering the modest national academic production involving the question of the peace effect of international trade, it contributes intellectually to the debate of the issue in Brazil, because it condenses the thought of several foreign authors
