RESUMO

The opening of national frontiers to world class products and the following increase of competition have brought, in its beginning, a negative impact to the national textile industry. Many companies couldn t follow the changes and have closed their doors while others found the solution to improve quality and productivity in importing updated technology. However, the flow of technology from industrially developed countries to countries in development has been often followed by troubles that can affect the imported device through all its working life. It sometimes happens because this kind of transfer involves aspects that are, usually, neglected by both, importers and exporters. This research is a case study that, under technological approach, analyzes the importation of open-end spinning machines by a factory located in Barbacena, a city of Zona da Mata, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and how these devices and the new work organization affects its operators. This work also search to examine how the operators and mechanics maintains the production efficiency and quality beyond the foreseen goals
