RESUMO

The present work intends to analyze the Social Representations of entrepreneurship amongst the members of the Universal Church of GodÂs Kingdom, since this religious group concentrates about 2 million adepts and caused a big impact in Brazilian society since its foundation. The great novelty that this Church offers to its followers is the ability to conjugate metaphysical elements of the Christian theology with daily questions of belivers, adapting itself to their necessities, such as entrepreneurial initiative. Through the Prosperity Theology the Universal Church detaches the importance of the beliver to achieve financial success in order for the promise of âlife and life with abundanceâ contained in the bible, to be effectively fulfilled. Based on this perspective, the entrepreneurship as a form to extend incomes, receives a âmissionary soulâ: in the Universal Church the beliver does not search only a job, but strive ways to have their own business. In our research we have chosen to apply the Social Representations Theory, since we understand that the representations reveal the beliefs of a social group and organize the common sense knowledge present in the daily life of individuals in an articulated knowledge which can have practical applications. Through the study of the entrepreneurship representations amongst the members of the Universal Church we could also realize how the introjection of such representations collaborates to the increase of the ChurchÂs power upon the faithfuls, since that establishes common ideas and values to its members and point to sanctions and gifts that can derive from behaviors considered right or wrong and are represent by terms such as: faith, creativity, success and failure
