1. Distribution, ecology, and reproduction of bryophytes in a humid enclave in the semiarid region of northeastern Brazil
ABSTRACT The ready availability of water resources distinguishes the humid forest of Chapada do Araripe, Ceará State, Brazil, from the semiarid vegetation around it. The regional climate demonstrates a marked seasonality of rainfall that affects the ecological strategies of the species found there. We studied the bryophytes of the humid forest of Chapada do

2. Using multiple random walk simulation in short-term grade models
Abstract Geostatistical simulation comprises a variety of techniques which can help on the decision-making process for uncertainties. They allow the uncertainty assessment of function responses (which depend on the simulated inputs) commonly through a non-linear relationship (net present value, interest tax return, geometallurgical ore recovery...). However,

3. Reference Values for the Six-Minute Walk Test in Healthy Children and Adolescents: a Systematic Review
Abstract Objective: The aim of the study is to compare the available reference values and the six-minute walk test equations in healthy children/adolescents. Our systematic review was planned and performed in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. We included all studies that established reference values for the six-minute walk test in healthy children/adol

4. Alternative Physical Therapy Protocol Using a Cycle Ergometer During Hospital Rehabilitation of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: a Clinical Trial
ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of a cycle ergometer-based exercise program to a standard protocol on the increment of the maximum distance walked during the six-minute walk test in the postoperative rehabilitation of patients submitted to coronary artery bypass grafting. METHODS: A controlled clinical trial pilot, blinded to the outcome, enrol

5. Reproducibility of the six-minute walk test and Glittre ADL-test in patients hospitalized for acute and exacerbated chronic lung disease
Background: The 6-minute walk test (6MWT) and the Glittre ADL-test (GT) are used to assess functional capacity and exercise tolerance; however, the reproducibility of these tests needs further study in patients with acute lung diseases. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the reproducibility of the 6MWT and GT performed in patients hospital

6. Exercise programs for people with dementia
BACKGROUND: This is an update of our previous 2008 review. Several recent trials and systematic reviews of the impact of exercise on people with dementia are reporting promising findings.OBJECTIVE:Primary: Do exercise programs for older people with dementia improve cognition, activities of daily living (ADLs), challenging behaviour, depression, and mortalit

7. Un modelo exactamente soluble para los marcadores en partidos de voleibol
A simple analytical model to quantify the probability P A S that team B wins a given set to team P A M in a volleyball match is developed. The probability of victory of team A in a whole match P A M is also calculated. Both probabilities are functions of a single parameter p, which represents the probability that team p beats team A in a rally. The model is

8. Modelo distribuído para agregação de armazenamento em redes de sensores sem fio=Distributed model for storage aggregation in wireless sensor networks / Distributed model for storage aggregation in wireless sensor networks
Storage management of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a very critical issue in terms of system s lifetime. While WSNs host a vast storage capacity on the aggregate, that capacity cannot be used entirely. Eventually, the entire network may fail when the first sensor has its own storage capacity depleted, leaving behind a large amount of unutilized storage c

9. Relações da estrutura de redes complexas com as dinâmicas do passeio aleatório, de transporte e de sincronização / Relationships between the structure of complex networks and the random walk, transport and synchronization dynamics

10. Funções generalizadas, modelos de crescimento contínuos e discretos e caminhadas estocásticas em meios desordenados / Generalized functions, discrete and continuous growth models and stochastic walks on disordered media

11. A tutorial on hypercube queueing models and some practical applications in Emergency Service Systems
This paper presents some extensions and applications of hypercube queueing models todescribe server-to-customer type Emergency Service Systems. The classical hypercube is a well-known spatially distributed queueing model effective in analyzing these systems, based on Markovian analysis approximations. Experience has shown that each real life Emergency Servic

12. Aptidão cardiorrespiratória estimada por diferentes testes de campo em adolescentes
The aim of the present study was to assess the cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) estimated through different field tests in adolescents based on a reference method. Participants were 115 adolescents (12.16 ± 0.8 years), of both sexes. We measured body mass, height and skinfold thickness, and then calculated the body mass index and the percentage of body fat.
