13. Ga Dopant Induced Band Gap Broadening and Conductivity Enhancement in Spray Pyrolysed Zn0.85Ca0.15O thin Films
Ga doped Zn0.85Ca0.15O thin films were prepared by spray pyrolysis method and studied the impact of Ga doping concentration on the physical properties of these films. XRD analysis confirmed the structural purity and polycrystalline nature of the films and composition analysis verified the incorporation of dopants in the structures. Optical transmission in th

14. Carbon Distribution in Ferritic-Martensitic Fe-Cr-C Alloys
Carbon distribution in Fe-Cr-C alloys with a variety of Cr concentrations is studied based on internal friction, optical and transmission-electron microscopy. It is found that the carbon distribution strongly depends on initial microstructure, being ferritic or ferritic/martensitic, which is determined by the thermal treatment, and Cr and carbon concentratio

15. Physiochemical and Optical Properties of GdF3:Pr@LaF3@SiO2 Microspheres
The polyol-based co-precipitation process was employed for synthesis of GdF3:Pr (core) and GdF3:Pr@LaF3 (core-shell) microspheres (MSs). Subsequently, an amorphous silica layer was deposited surrounding the core-shell MSs, which was verified from high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and FTIR results.

16. Annealing Effects on the Structural and Optical Properties of ZnO Nanostructures
ZnO nanostructures were synthesized by a proteic sol-gel method, using zinc nitrate hexahydrate and gelatin as precursors. Size and shape evolution of ZnO nanostructures were achieved by annealing temperature in the range 250-1000 ºC. The crystalline structure, morphology and optical properties of the ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray Diffractio

17. Extremely high Faraday and Kerr rotations and extraordinary optical transmission in four-layer dielectric-metal strips-dielectric-Bi:YIG planar structure
Abstract Faraday and Kerr effects as well as the extraordinary optical transmission in a structure that combines magneto-optical and plasmonic properties are studied. The planar structure consists of four layers, namely, dielectric layer, metal strips, once again dieletric layer and magneto-optic one. The magneto-optical layer is magnetized by a DC magnetic

18. Characterization of CBD-CdS Doped with Some Rare Earths III (Eu3+,Ce3+) as Function of Synthesis Time
Rare earths (Europium, cerium)-doped CdS nanofilms are prepared using the growth technique chemical bath deposition (CBD) at the reservoir temperature of 70±2°C varying the synthesis time in a wide range. For the rare earths doped CdS nanofilms the synthesis time was ranged from 80 to 135 min. The rare earths molar concentration was in the range 0.0≤x≤

19. Influence of pH in Obtaining Indium Tin Oxide Nanoparticles by Microwave Assisted Solvothermal Method
A systematic study about synthesis of In1-xSnxO2 (ITO) nanostructured crystals by microwave-assisted solvothermal method is reported. Different solutions using InCl3.4H2O and SnCl4.5H2O precursors in ethylene glycol solvent were prepared in distinct pHs (acid and basic ones). The syntheses were performed at 200 ºC using a heating rate of 50 ºC min-1 and so

20. Energy Efficient Rate Adaptation Algorithm for FiWi Access Network
Abstract Similar to any telecommunication network, energy efficiency is a desirable feature for fiber wireless (FiWi) access networks. These networks have optical back end and wireless front end. Both ends may contribute for energy efficiency. This work focuses on front end of FiWi access network, which is IEEE 802.11a wireless local area network (WLAN). For

21. Synanthropic triatomines as potential vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi in Central Brazil
Abstract INTRODUCTION: Chagas disease surveillance requires current knowledge on synanthropic triatomines. We analyzed the occurrence and Trypanosoma cruzi infection rates of triatomine bugs in central Brazil, during 2012-2014. METHODS: Triatomines were collected inside or around houses, and T. cruzi infection was determined by optical microscopy and con

22. Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Ti-12Mo-8Nb Alloy Hot Swaged and Treated for Orthopedic Applications
Metastable β-type Ti alloys with non-toxic addition elements such as Mo, Zr, Sn, Ta and Nb were developed as an alternative to the widely used Ti-6Al-4V alloy for biomedical applications. These alloys possess enhanced biocompatibility and reduced elastic modulus in comparison with Ti-6Al-4V. Moreover, for orthopedic implants, low Young's modulus is required

23. Severe Plastic Deformation and Additive Distribution in Mg-Fe to Improve Hydrogen Storage Properties
Magnesium (Mg) is a light metal with relatively low cost. Its hydride (MgH2) is interesting for the safe hydrogen storage in solid state and has a high gravimetric capacity of 7.6%. Practical application of Mg is still hampered by high reaction temperatures and slow kinetics. In order to improve it and focus on more viable industrial processing conditions, M
