1. Experimental and Computational Studies of the Adsorption of Furan, Pyrrole, and Thiophene on Hydroxyapatites in a Single and Ternary Component
Non-doped (Hap) and doped hydroxyapatites with Cu2+ and Fe2+ were synthesized and used to study the adsorption of furan (Fur), pyrrole (Pyr), and thiophene (Thi) in single and ternary component systems. Spectroscopic data and N2 isotherms indicated there were no structural alterations in Hap with the incorporation of Cu2+ and Fe2+. For both single and ternar

2. Uncertainty estimation in hydrodynamic modeling using Bayesian techniques

3. An application of Earned Value Management (EVM) with Monte Carlo simulation in engineering project management

4. Fatigue lifespan of a fillet welded joint - Hybrid approach to obtain the S-N curve with a reduced number of tests
Abstract This paper introduces a hybrid approach for obtaining S-N curves with reduced number of tests associated to statistically simulated data. In order to validate the proposal, two validation process were developed. One using a methodology to generate S-N curves based on Monte Carlo simulations and other using actual data according Zhao et al. (1998), a

5. On the performance of three indices of agreement: an easy-to-use r-code for calculating the Willmott indices
ABSTRACT A key step for any modeling study is to compare model-produced estimates with observed/reliable data. The original index of agreement (also known as original Willmott index) has been widely used to measure how well model-produced estimates simulate observed data. However, in its original version such index may lead the user to erroneously select a p

6. Measurement uncertainty of dissolution test of acetaminophen immediate release tablets using Monte Carlo simulations
ABSTRACT Analytical results are widely used to assess batch-by-batch conformity, pharmaceutical equivalence, as well as in the development of drug products. Despite this, few papers describing the measurement uncertainty estimation associated with these results were found in the literature. Here, we described a simple procedure used for estimating measuremen

7. A Model Predictive Guidance Strategy for a Multirotor Aerial Vehicle
ABSTRACT: The present study faces the problem of safely controlling the position trajectory of a multirotor aerial vehicle subjected to a conic constraint on the total thrust vector and a linear convex constraint on the position vector. The problem is solved using a linear state-space model predictive control strategy, whose optimization is made handy by rep

8. MOLECULAR VALIDATED MODEL FOR ADSORPTION OF PROTONATED DYE ON LDH
Abstract Hydrotalcite-like compounds are anionic clays of scientific and technological interest for their use as ion exchange materials, catalysts and modified electrodes. Surface phenomenon are important for all these applications. Although conventional analytical methods have enabled progress in understanding the behavior of anionic clays in solution, an e

9. Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic target attainment of intravenous β-lactam regimens against Gram-negative bacteria isolated in a Brazilian teaching hospital
ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Monte Carlo simulations have been used for selecting optimal antibiotic regimens for treatment of bacterial infections. The aim of this study was to assess the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic target attainment of intravenous β-lactam regimens commonly used to treat bloodstream infections (BSIs) caused by Gram-negative rod-shaped or

11. Study of quantum effects in condensed matter thermodynamics : phase transitions at finite temperature / Estudo de efeitos quânticos na termodinâmica da matéria condensada : transições de fase a temperatura finita

The likelihood ratio test for independence between two groups of variables allows us to identify whether there is a dependency relationship between two groups of variables, ie, if the covariance between the two groups are zero. This test assumes normality multivariate data, which limits its application, in many studies of agronomic area, times when you need
