3. Debridement of axillary necrotizing fasciitis under anesthetic blocks of the serratus plane and supraclavicular brachial plexus: a case report
Abstract The regional techniques for axillary analgesia are well established. However, few studies have investigated surgical anesthesia. In this report, extensive debridement of axillary necrotizing fasciitis, including the posteromedial region of the right arm, performed under exclusive regional anesthesia in a patient with probable difficult airway is des

4. Mesh reinforcement in masonry mortar coatings: a systematic literature review
Abstract Mortar coatings have a major influence on a building’s aesthetics, valorization, and habitability, with significant effects on the mechanical behavior of masonry walls. Multiple types of meshes can be embedded in plaster to enhance both masonry and coating’s mechanical behavior, restrain crack formation, enhance the bonding between layers, and i

5. Heterozygosity for neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis predisposes to bipolar disorder
Objective: Bipolar disorder is a heritable chronic mental disorder that causes psychosocial impairment through depressive/manic episodes. Familial transmission of bipolar disorder does not follow simple Mendelian patterns of inheritance. The aim of this study was to describe a large family with 12 members affected by bipolar disorder. Whole-exome sequencing

6. El Niño-Southern Oscillation impacts on grape yields in Santana do Livramento, Brazil: understanding and early warning of crop failure conditions
ABSTRACT El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is an important source of year–to–year fluctuations in the whole global climate system and in the southern Brazilian climate. El Niño events affect this region, imposing unfavorable weather conditions (rainy/humid/overcast) during critical grapevine phenological stages, compromising yields in the current and

7. Chromosome diversity in Buthidae and Chactidae scorpions from Brazilian fauna: Diploid number and distribution of repetitive DNA sequences
Abstract In this work, we analyzed cytogenetically eight Chactidae and Buthidae, including the localization of repetitive DNA sequences. The chactids possess monocentric chromosomes and the highest diploid numbers (2n=50 in Brotheas amazonicus, 2n=36 in Chactopsis amazonica, 2n=30 in Neochactas sp.) when compared with buthids (2n=10 in Tityus bahiensis, 2n=1

8. Hereditary hemochromatosis beyond hyperferritinemia: Clinical and laboratory investigation of the patient’s profile submitted to phlebotomy in two reference centers in southern Brazil
Abstract Hereditary Hemochromatosis is a disorder characterized by iron deposition in several organs and hyperferritinemia. The most studied variants are linked to the HFE gene. In Brazil, surveys that characterize this population are scarce, with no sampling in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Our objective is to carry out a data collection focusing on the p

9. Rethinking abusive supervision: antecedents and reparative mechanisms of abusive supervision, including supervisor frustration, coworker support, guilt, and supervisor OCB in a mediated-moderation model
Abstract Purpose Drawing on affective events theory, this study positions role overload and supervisor frustration as antecedents of abusive supervision, leading to supervisor-led organizational citizenship behavior. In a mediated-moderation-sed analysis, we question whether coworker support moderates the relationship between supervisor frustration and abus

10. Violent behavior, perceived safety, and assault experiences among adolescents: results from the Brazilian National Adolescent School-based Health Survey
Objective To investigate factors associated with violent behavior in a large nationally representative sample of Brazilian adolescents. Methods The data were derived from the 2015 National Adolescent School-based Health Survey (Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde do Escolar [PeNSE]). The independent variables of interest included feelings of safety while on the way

11. Regional analgesia and surgical site infections after colorectal surgery: a retrospective cohort analysis
Abstract Background The effect of regional analgesia on perioperative infectious complications remains unknown. We therefore tested the hypothesis that a composite of serious infections after colorectal surgery is less common in patients with regional analgesia than in those given Intravenous Patient-Controlled Analgesia (IV-PCA) with opiates. Methods Pati

12. Effect of candesartan treatment on echocardiographic indices of cardiac remodeling in post-myocardial infarction patients
SUMMARY Objective: Myocardial infarction has unfavorable effect on structural and functional properties of the myocardium, referred to as cardiac remodeling. Left ventricular mass, left ventricular mass index, and relative wall thickness are important predictors of cardiac remodeling. In this study, we investigated the effect of candesartan treatment in com
