1. Technical contributions to territorial planning and the use of ecosystemic services in a hydrographic basin with a water deficit in the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil

2. Effects of temperature-dependent viscosity on fluid flow and heat transfer in a helical rectangular duct with a finite pitch
An incompressible fully developed laminar flow in a helical rectangular duct having finite pitch and curvature with temperature-dependent viscosity under heating condition is studied in this work. Both the cases of one wall heated and four walls heated are studied. The cross-sectional dimensions of the rectangular duct are 2a and 2b. The aspect ratio n=2b/2a

3. SIMULATION OF INTERMITTENT FLOW IN VERTICAL PIPES USING THE TWO-FLUID MODEL WITH DIFFERENT CLOSURE PARAMETERS / SIMULAÇÃO DO REGIME INTERMITENTE EM TUBULAÇÕES VERTICAIS UTILIZANDO O MODELO DE DOIS FLUIDOS COM DIFERENTES RELAÇÕES DE FECHAMENTO
Intermittent two phase flows are characterized by a succession of liquid slugs separated by bubbles of different sizes, with varying frequency. The prediction of this type of flow is very important, since it can be found in several industrial applications. In the present work, studies of intermittent flows in vertical pipes are performed, employing the Two F

4. Genetic algorithm for preliminary design optimisation of high-performance axial-flow compressors
This work presents an approach to optimise the preliminary design of high-performance axial-flow compressors. The preliminary design within the Gas Turbine Group at ITA, is carried on with an in-house computational program based upon the streamline curvature method, using correlations from the literature to assess the losses. The choice of many parameters of

6. Movimento browniano com respeito a métricas riemannianas dependendo do tempo e aplicações ao fluxo de curvatura média / Brownian motion with respect to riemannian metrics depending on time and applications to the mean curvature flow

7. Determination of stall and choke limits of a transonic axial flow compressor using the straemline curvature method
The necessity for high performance axial compressors for various applications is shown. The basic theory associated with the study of these machines is presented. A method for calculating the properties of the flow along the compressor is presented. Depending on the design requirements the number of stages is selected and an appropriate shape of the channel

8. Hypersurfaces with prescribed mean curvature in Riemannian manifolds / HipersuperfÃcies com curvatura mÃdia prescrita em variedades riemannianas
This work shows results existence and uniqueness of graphs with prescribed mean curvature. We demonstrate that a natural fixation Dirichlet problem for graphs of average curvature is required to consider those graphs like leaves on a Riemannian submersion Killing transversal cylinder, the cylinder given by flow lines of a Killing vector field. Using this app

9. Coastal Ocean Response to Alongshore Variations in Topography and Wind Forcing
The effects of alongshore variability in topography (banks and capes) and spatial variability in the wind forcing, including the wind-stress curl, on coastal ocean circulation are studied using a combination of observations and model simulations. Satellite sea surface temperature observations are used to describe the seasonal evolution of temperature fronts

10. Non-Riemannian geometry of twisted flux tubes
New examples of the theory recently proposed by Ricca [PRA(1991)] on the generalization of Da Rios-Betchov intrinsic equations on curvature and torsion of classical non-Riemannian vortex higher-dimensional string are given. In particular we consider applications to 3-dimesional fluid dynamics, including the case of a twisted flux tube and the fluid rotation.

11. An-edge preserving multigrid-like for image denoising and inpainting / Uma técnica multimalhas para eliminação de ruídos e retoque digita"
Techniques based on the Well-Balanced Flow Equation have been employed as an efficient tool for edge preserving noise removal. Although effective, this technique demands high computational effort, rendering it not practical in several applications. This work aims at proposing a multigrid-like technique for speeding up the solution of the Well- Balanced Flow

12. Leading-edge bluntness effects on aerodynamic heating and drag of power law body in low-density hypersonic flow
A numerical study is reported on power law shaped leading edges situated in a rarefied hypersonic flow. The sensitivity of the heat flux and drag coefficient to shape variations of such leading edges is calculated by using a Direct Simulation Monte Carlo method. Calculations show that the stagnation point heating on power law leading edges with finite radius
