25. Comparative study of hydrodynamic behavior of liquid expanded bed adsorption: mathematical and short-cut methods
Liquid fluidized/expanded bed adsorption (LF/EBA) is a novel chromatography technique for capturing target biomolecules directly from crude feedstock in downstream processing. To widely extend the LF/EBA technology in biological industries, a better understanding of the expanded-bed behavior is necessary to maximize its efficient applications. In this study,

26. Disponibilidade da radiação fotossinteticamente ativa ao longo de colunas de cultivo vertical de morangueiros em função do espaçamento e superficie refletora / Availability of Photosynthetically active radiation alone the columns of vertical strawberry growth in function of spacing and reflective surface
The objective of this research was to increase the offer of Photosyntetically Active Radiation(PAR) trough vertical bags for strawberry production. To aim this objective two strategies were adopted the increase of distance among columns of the vertical bags and the use of reflective surfaces over the floor of the greenhouses under the bags. The distances use

27. Relação anatomica entre a morfologia cranio-facial, o espaço aereo faringeo, a posição do osso hioide e a postura cranio-cervical / Anatomical relation between the craniofacial morphology, pharyngeal airway space, the hyoid bone position and the craniocervical posture
The aim of this research was to evaluate the relation between the craniofacial morphology, pharyngeal airway space, the hyoid bone position and the craniocervical posture. Lateral cephalometric radiographs were obtained from 52 volunteers in natural head posture, among 18 and 28 years old, of both genders, randomly selected, that had not historical of orthod

28. Protocolo de fotogrametria computadorizada na quantificacao angular da escoliose
The scoliosis is a three-dimensional deformation of the spine. It is a serious disease that can compromise vital organs like heart and lungs, in addition to influence the aesthetic and quality of life. His progression is generally associated with growth peak, getting in that case, the name of the adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Thus, the pubertal peri

29. Behavior and fluidization of the cohesive powders: agglomerates sizes approach
This work focuses on the fluidization of three types of TiO2 powders: Anatase (99% TiO2), Rutile 1 (95% TiO2 and 5% Al) and Rutile 2 (96.5% TiO2 and 3.5% Al and Si); the average diameters of the powders are 204 nm, 159 nm and 167 nm, respectively. These powders belong to group C of the Geldart classification and are characterized as cohesive powders with a n

30. Characteristics of flow in wet conical spouted beds of unequal-sized spherical Particles
Interparticle forces, developed in wet spouted beds composed of a mixture of spherical particles with different size distributions, intensify particle segregation mechanisms interfering in gas distribution inside the bed and, consequently, in the spouting flow characteristics. Therefore, this paper is aimed at describing the effect of interparticle forces on

31. Análise experimental de bloco de fundação sobre duas estacas, sob carga centrada, para estruturas pré-fabricadas
This work analyses and discusses the pile caps behavior for concrete precast structures on two piles submitted to the action of centered force. As column-foundation connection, rough interface foundation socket was used. The strut-and-tie model is used to shape the effort transmission from the column to the pile-caps, confirmed by the experimental analyses.

32. Ocorrência de Toxorhynchites (Diptera, Culicidae) em Mata Atlântica, Viçosa, MG, e predação de T. violaceus sobre larvas de Aedes aegypti / Occurrence of Toxorhynchites (Diptera: Culicidae) in the Atlantic Forest at Viçosa, MG, and predation of T. vilolaceus on Aedes aegypti larvae
Toxorhynchites are long legs Culicidae. Their larvae are aquatic predators that feed on invertebrate immatures, mainly mosquito larvae, in natural or artificial water reservoirs or ponds, where larvae of mosquito disease vectors develop. Toxorhynchites adults feed exclusively on carbohydrates, what make them incapables of transmitting pathogens to human bein

33. Influence of environmental conditions on health of engraulidid larvae collected in Santos (SP) / Influência do ambiente na higidez de larvas de engraulidídeos coletados na região de Santos (SP)
The aim of this study was to analyze influence of environmental conditions on health of engraulidid larvae of the continental shelf off Santos (24º49´S - 23º49´S e 46º55´W - 45º24´W). Samples were collected during two oceanographic cruises (September 2005 and March 2006). Differences among hydrographic conditions were verified between surveys: in Sep

34. Efeito da aplicação de água residuária de café sobre as propriedades químicas do solo e do efluente
The competitiveness and the requirement of the international market, for products have motivated the Brazilian producers the search of alternatives for better quality attainment of better quality coffee. However, the selected alternative generates wish volumes of waste water with high pollutant potential due to organic load and the nutrient concentrations. T

The deacidification process of soybean oil by continuous liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) was evaluated in a perforated rotating discs contactor column (PRDC). It were studied model-systems formed by refined soybean oil with artificial addition of approximately 2% of commercial linoleic acid. Until the moment, the studies of vegetable oils deacidification by L

Coffee plantation in Brazil is very important, once it is responsible for the greatest production, consumption and exportation of coffee in the world. The species Coffea arabica and C. canephora are predominant and also host some insect-pests of economical importance such as the cicadas. The species Quesada gigas is considered the principal because it presen
