14. Indução à espermiação e características seminais do anura inativo rã-manteiga (Leptodactylus ocellatus) e do exótico rã-touro (Lithobates catesbeianus) / Induction of spermiation and seminal characteristics of the native butterfrog (Leptodactylus ocellatus) and the exotic bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus)

15. Occurrence of heavy metals and antibiotic resistance in bacteria from internal organs of american bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) raised in Malaysia
A total of 40 bacteria have been successfully isolated from internal organs of the American bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) raised in Malaysia, namely, eight isolates of Aeromonas spp., 21 of Edwardsiella spp., six of Flavobacterium spp. and five of Vibrio spp. In terms of antibiotic susceptibility testing, each isolate was tested against 21 antibiotics, resulti

16. Characteristics and potential impact of bullfrog Lithobates catesbeianus (SHAW,1802) / Características alimentares e potencial impactante da rã- touro Lithobates catesbeianus (SHAW,1802)

17. Coleta e criopreservação do sêmen de rã-touro, Lithobastes catesbeianus (Shaw, 1802) / Seminal sampling and cryopreservation in the bullfrog, Lithobastes catesbeianus (Shaw, 1802)

18. PREDAÇÃO DE ANUROS NATIVOS PELA RÃ-TOURO (Rana catesbeiana: Ranidae) NO SUL DO BRASIL
Bullfrogs (Rana catesbeiana) have been introduced in many continents causing impact on native species. We have studied the influence of bullfrogs on the native anuran fauna through the diet analysis of 291 specimens, collected between May 2002 and June 2003, in an area in the South of Brazil. In order to check the feeding importance of the food items, the Pi

19. Effect of bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) oil administered by gavage on the fatty acid composition and oxidative stress of mouse liver
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of daily intragastric administration of bullfrog oil (oleic, linoleic and palmitoleic acid-rich oil), corresponding to 0.4% of body weight for four weeks, on fatty acid composition and oxidative stress (lipid peroxidation and catalase activity) in mouse liver. The activities of aspartate aminotransf

20. Avaliação comparada qualitativa da participação do óxido nítrico no processo inflamatório crônico granulomatoso induzido pela inoculação de BCG / Comparative qualitative evaluation of the role of nitric oxide in chronic granulomatous inflammatory process induced by BCG inoculation
Nitric oxide (NO) is a gaseous free radical that takes part in a series of biological physiological processes. It is produced by enzymes called nitric oxide synthetases (NOS). Several studies have demonstrated its role in chronic inflammatory response, in which inflammatory cells, mainly macrophages, are stimulated to synthesize NOS, being called then induci

21. Schooling and swimming behaviors of Hyla semilineata tadpoles (Anura, Hylidae)
The schooling behavior of Hyla semilineata Spix, 1824 tadpoles is described. Experiments were carried out both in the natural environment and under controlled conditions to quantify the constant movement of these tadpoles. Bullfrog tadpoles (Rana catesbeiana Shaw, 1802), similar in size to the H. semilineata larvae, were used as controls in the experiments.

22. Aggrecan structure in amphibian cartilage
The structure of the large proteoglycan present in the bullfrog epiphyseal cartilage was studied by immunochemical and biochemical methods. The isolated monomer showed a polydisperse behavior on Sepharose CL2B, with a peak at Kav = 0.14. Chondroitin sulfate chains were identified by HPLC analysis of the products formed by chondroitinase digestion and mercuri

24. Electrophysiological effects of calcitonin gene-related peptide in bull-frog and guinea-pig atrial myocytes.
1. Electrophysiological effects of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) on action potentials and corresponding transmembrane currents in single myocytes from bull-frog and guinea-pig atria were studied using a whole-cell voltage-clamp method. 2. CGRP at relatively low concentrations increased the height of the action potential plateau in a dose-dependent m
