RESUMO

This work deals with the violence against the child, questioning it from a revision of literature on the subject and the confrontation of this with the analysis of a series of cases, constituted of outraged children, who had been admitted to one of the biggest emergencies of the State of Pernambuco - Hospital da RestauraÃÃo. It is divided into two parts: in the first one, a revision of the main approaches of the violence in general up to the violence against the child is carried out, aiming to systemize the information published on the subject, focusing since its clarifying concept, types, patterns and situations of risk, dimension of the phenomenon, limitations in the visibility of these events, historical contextualization of its roots, as far as the evolution of the rights of the child. In the second part, it analyzes a series of assisted cases at the Hospital da RestauraÃÃo, in the attempt to apprehend its reality. The study used the methodology of the epidemiological inquiry through the quantitative approach. The results showed up that the biggest frequency of bad-treatments originates from the reckless situations, generally the mothers being the responsible ones, people in social compromising situation, without any support perspectives, directing the focus of the problem towards the roots of the structural violence, of which they are victims, as well as the children. It points out the phenomenon of the violence as the great challenge of XXI century, not only for the public health, but also for the social policies. It reflects the importance of the structural changes, but it stands out, equally, the importance of the change of the human behaviors in practice of the ethics that makes it possible the construction of interpersonal acquaintance of better quality in an equaling society
