RESUMO

This work deals with the joint use of adaptive equalization and forward error correction codes. Firstly, we show some representative techniques of joint adaptive equalization and error correction codes. Secondly, we analyze through simulations and error surfaces the blind convergence of a linear transversal filter adapted by the least mean square (LMS) algorithm using the decision-directed (DD) mode, aided by a trellis coded modulation (TCM) decoder. Besides, we analyze also the blind convergence of the DFE aided by a TCM decoder and adapted by the LMS-DD and CMA. We present two spacetime signal processing techniques and we investigate their characteristics for many parameters of the mobile radio channel. Finally, we apply joint techniques in space-time structures which use the DFE, in order to obtain the effects over bit and packet error rates.
