RESUMO

The construction and demolition solid waste (CDSW) produced in the urban centers has been a serious problem for the municipalities . The adequate disposal of this kind of waste is a difficult task especially due to the increasing of its production, the growth of urban centers and the lack of spaces for final disposal. These aspects have contributed for the increased distances between the citys centers and final disposal areas, which erase transportation costs. The impacts caused by CDSW have generated serious problems to the urban management: obstruction of rivers and valleys, degradation of the fauna and flora and damage to the public budget, among others. The lack of an adequate CDSW management politics makes the impacts even stronger. . The goal of this work is to evaluate the actual situation of management of the CDSW in the Distrito Federal, presenting data of quantity (mass and volume) and characterization, for composition, granulometry, unitary mass and difratometry of samples of solid waste deriving from the construction sites in Brasília. The results of the laboratory analysis have demonstrated that the unitary mass and the composition of the CDSW samples are conditioned by construction stages, which do not affect the granulometria and present mineral elements. Regarding the RSCD management , it could be concluded that many improvements need to be introduced in the management of the wastes produced in the construction sites as well as in the collection, transport and storage system realized in Distrito Federal, detaching the inefficiency of these actions and the integration of public and private organism.
