RESUMO

This work analyses the cultural production of female cartoonists in the light of their insertion in the cartoon industry scenery, the different contexts in which they excel and the way they represent women characters, considering the stereotypy present in this field of mass culture. By researching the works of brazilian Marguerita Fahrer and argentinian Maitena Burundarena proposes that their discourse of the body, supported by grotesque humor and self-irony, could be a strategy of consolidating subjectivity and construction of a performative feminine identity
