RESUMO

In this research we investigate, from representations identificatory process (IPs) constructed by undergraduate students in a Letters course (Portuguese/English) in a university in Vale do Aço (VA) Minas Gerais. Our aim was to identify discourses that work in foreign language (FE) and Professional formation to point how they work advancing in the discoursive language learning comprehension. For this, we problematized the IPs in language learning and FE teachers formation in Applied Linguistics, with concepts from French Discourse Analysis and Enunciation Theory crossed by Psychoanalysis, in interface with Cultural Studies about identity and Contemporary time. Our corpus is complex formed by undergraduate students and their professors speech about their English learning and professional education or work as teachers and by documents about VA history. We analyzed images from undergraduate students and teachers about English, English teacher and learner through interpretation, showed heterogeneity, discursive resonances silence and contradiction. We conclude that English is represented like a way to get a good work, social status, freedom e money in VA as well as other parts of Brazil. In language schools (LSs) English is language while schools and universities consider it as a subject. Because of this, Letters students consider LSs the place for professional formation. In despite of students represented themselves as autonomous learners, the good teacher must to control the teaching/learning process consider subject transmission. Those effects are products of capitalism discourse, globalization and business relations, science discourse (or university discourse), also master discourse.
