Paisagem e reminiscÃncia: o tombamento do Campo de Batalhas dos Montes Guararapes

RESUMO

This dissertation aims to interpret the landscape dimension as a memorial subject that is subjacent of the historical value given to the âMontes Guararapesâ battlefield (CBMG) in 1961 federal instance, as the local where happened the âInssurreiÃÃo Pernambucanaâ, in the years of 1648 and 1649, which resulted in the Dutch people expulsion. The subject is the process of the preservation of this battlefield as a national heritage. Initially it was possible to think that this battlefield had essentially a landscape character. However, although the landscape was present as a sense according the 1937 âDecreto-Lei 25â, it was not considered as a landscape, archeology and historic preservation category in the registration as a heritage resource. It shows that the historic value did not revealed in the totality, because the landscaping meaning was not included. The hypothesis is that landscape is a significant dimension which is subjacent of the historical value. The investigation was developed following the Argumentation Theory of Chaim Perelman, dealing with the process of the heritage protection as a discursive whole in which was included the âobject discourseâ as premises and âargumentative actorsâ, as well as the definitions, notion, and value judgment as part of the process. The analysis have concluded that there were two moment of the argumentative process: the historical value evocation (1953 to 1955) emphasizing the sense of scenario and the historical value consolidation (1956 to 1961) when was established the sense of the monument. It was possible to verify that in both moments the landscape was present as a significant dimension subjacent historical value but that was not considered at the moment of the heritage subscription
