Os signos educativos presentes no cinema: uma análise dos filmes dos trapalhões da década de 1980

RESUMO

The present work has as its objective the analysis of educational signs in the Os Trapalhões comic groups cinematographic language, verifying through those signs the possibility to create educational subsides for the teaching and learning process in the Basic Education, so that they provide the children with educational contexts. This research, which is inserted in the line of Didactic and Pedagogic Methods and Processes of the Master Course in Education at FURB University, uses Semiotics and Semiology in the analysis of educational signs and significants in the films made by Os Trapalhões comic group. Both theories, known as sign doctrines, appeared in the beginning of the XX century by the researchers Ferdinand de Saussure (1857-1913) and Charles Peirce (1839-1914). This work is mainly based on Peirces theory and those of his followers and adeptssuch as Lucia Santaella and Armando Mora DOliveira. However, the author of this paper uses in its theoretical basis Saussures definitions and those of his followers as Yuri Lotman and Christian Metz. In this research, it can be found 46 films by Os Trapalhões comic group though only 22 of them show the four integrants of it, from which 03 have been selected for case study, being those: Os Saltimbancos Trapalhões (The Trapalhões Saltimbanques), for having a film repertory containing musical numbers, with singing and dancing; Os Trapalhões e o Mágico de Oróz (The Trapalhões and the Magic from Oróz) for having a social representation typical of that in the northeast of Brazil, emphasizing starvation and misery suffered by the northeastern people and Os Trapalhões na Terra dos Monstros (The Trapalhões in the Monsters Land), for having a strong appeal to the preservation of the environment. All such films show signs and significants considered pertinent to analysis, being those from the 80s, a prosperous period for the group. Searching the educational signs, the films chosen for the analysis have been watched twice each, so that the categories for those signs could be selected. Firstly, it has been identified scenes where verbal and non verbal signs appear and those have been categorized afterwards, showing how they could be used in the classroom. For the analysis, categorization has been made for some signs that expressed educational values appearing in the film, like: environmental conscience, intertextuality, social problems and religiousness, based on the document Proposta Curricular de Santa Catarina (Syllabus for the Education in Santa Catarina). The selected scenes have been verbally described in details. Data have been interpreted according to the selected literature. The expected results point to didactic procedures suggested to teachers, which can contribute for the development of Basic Education in Santa Catarina, at any grade, in the following aspects: the interaction between the teacher and the signs and significants present in the films selected for school lessons, in the exhibition phase, in the discussion of pertinent points and in the evaluation by means of tasks related to the film context and studied subjects.
