RESUMO

Present research, linked to the group of research on Processes and Pedagogical-Didactic Methods, of the Post-Graduation on Education Program at FURB (Universidade Regional de Blumenau), has as its driving theme the performance of the physical therapist in the school inclusion of children with Brain Palsy, which aroused when parents of those children questioned the role of the physical therapist in the regular school. Its overall goal was to analyze the role of the physical therapist in the school inclusion process of children with Brain Palsy, who display motor alterations resulting from lesions in the immature brain, affecting ample and fine motor activity, as well as deficits in posture and movement. The research, of qualitative nature, has as subjects three (3) children with Brain Palsy, their parents, being two (2) fathers and one (1) mother, three classroom masters, two (2) assistant teachers, three (3) Physical Education teachers and five (5) college students of the last semester of 2007 of FURBs physical therapy course. We used, as a means of data collecting, semi-structured interviews and the data were analyzed, according to the studies and principles of Mantoan; Gauzzi e Fonseca; Mittler; e Barros. That research is utterly justifiable for the difficulties found by children with Brain Palsy to be accepted in the school environment and for the contribution that physical therapy can bring to mentioned subjects, as well as for the partnership that can be established together with parents, teachers and college students, who deal and frequent children with said palsy. The results obtained allow us to state that the physical therapist has a relevant role in those inclusive practices, since children with difficulties to adapt at school or that present a lesser or bigger motor impairment can be favored by therapeutic situations that will help their global development
