RESUMO

The goal of this dissertation is to understand the decision making from the link between the experience of decision and cognitive scheme of executives of a company s energy sector. The specific objectives are: determine the common principles as perceived by executives surveyed in the decision-making process, based on Simons model of rationality limited; identify the predominant style of decision makers from a company s energy sector; identify data related to the professional career of executives surveyed; map the structure of knowledge of decision makers surveyed about the decision-making process; characterize the relationship between the experience and cognitive scheme of the executives studied, and describe the decision-making process of distributing electricity. From the review of the literature complex concepts of decision-making process, experience and cognitive scheme was established a relationship with the empirical way in the field to involve the makers of the energy sector. This qualitative research was based on a case study that made use of different sources of evidence: the documentation, the registry files, the direct observation, interviews and questionnaires. The sample was selected for convenience and intentional. The semi-structured interviews and questionnaires contained various opportunities for assessment: analysis of speech, association of words, phrases composition and socio -scale use of decision making, which enabled observations of the different perceptions of individuals on decision making. From results, it appears that the executives of the organization studied is often concentrated in the design and choice, and to a lesser intensity, intelligence and feedback in the decision making process. The style predominant in each respondent s decision: the decision 1 is a leader flexible, the decision 2 is a systemic manager and decision maker 3 has an integrative style. The makers 1 and 2 are considered experienced decision makers and the maker 3, less experienced. It was based on interviews, that the degree of cognitive sharing the forms is high on perceptions of executives on decision making in the energy sector. In the description of the electric industry has emphasized the importance of market surveys and presented the main factors influencing the decision of the executives surveyed. It follows that in complex environments, the decision simplifies the reality in order to rank the criteria that subsidize their choice. The intuition is permitted and also avoided by executives surveyed, possibly because it is derived from a snapshot cognitive process. However, the decision may be strengthened by increasing experience and the maturation of decision diagrams of cognitive decision.
