RESUMO

Slender sky-scraper constructions require pondering prior analysis features like global and localized geometrical imperfection, physical and geometrical non-linearity aspects, adequate modeling of structural elements with respect to shear-wall elements, etc. In this work, the shear-wall behavior of an actual building is studied, upon which columns were modeled as beam finite elements and shell finite elements. We appraised also the global geometric imperfection consequence, besides simulating the physical non-linearity of the superstructures. The slabs were assessed by diaphragms considering their actions on the beams (girders). Thruout the study, updated revision text NBR 6118 / 00, Brazilian technical standards were applied, when necessary. Active forces such as: dead load, live load wind actions on the two principal directions and global geometric imperfection composing different combinations of actions for ultimate limit state of rupture were taking into account. Displacements and internal forces obtained from the simulations with beam elements and with shell elements were compared. The results showed good correlations
