RESUMO
The present paper is a study about natives living in Brazil in the Colonial Period. This way we tried to focus, especially, CamarÃoâs inheritage, an indian whom, by his agility in the battle against the Dutch made natives visible, giving them a condition of active agents in the construction of our History process. It is important to mention that CamarÃoâs inheritage acquired an importance from the necessity of the Colony protection, once the Crown did not intend to assume the expenses with the maintenance of a troop staying in a Colonial territory. This way, the solution was found a local militia, led by CamarÃo who, little by little, got Portugal confidence, giving his troop an importance so far denied to any peripheral social group, Thus, we could understand the outstanding reached by Felipe CamarÃo and his descendants which has showed another face of the Brazilian History, making these people so powerful that interfered actively in plans and projects idealized by the Crown designated to the Colony
