RESUMO
This work had the objective of involving the farmers, extensionists and breeders in the selection of new common bean inbred lines. For this, two distinct activities were carried out. In the first one, ten experiments were carried out to evaluate nine inbred lines and the commercial cultivar BRSMG Talismà in farm conditions of traditional common bean producers. The experimental design was a randomized complete blocks with three replications with plots of 10 rows of 5m each. Disease severity, grain yield and the cooking time were evaluated and it was required from farmers to evaluate the grain type. In the second activity an experiment was carried out with the participation of extensionists to evaluated six inbred lines in the stage of recommendation and two recommended cultivars (BRSMG Talismà and PÃrola). The objective was to validate and diffuse promising inbred lines to be recommended as new cultivar. The experimental design was a randomized complete blocks with three replications of 10 rows of 6m each. In this experiment the extensionists evaluated the plant architecture, disease severity, grain type and load of pods. Grain yield and cooking time were also obtained. Inbred line OP-S-30 presented the highest mean grain yield in all environments, and good angular leaf spot tolerance, good grain type according to the farmers, and good cooking quality. Besides the two inbred lines OP-S-16 and OP-S-80 also presented good performance. Based on these results, the farmers choose the most promising inbred lines and they are multiplying their seeds to be sowed in the next crop season. The joint work with extensionists allowed the validation of the OP-NS-331 and VC-3 inbred lines as new cultivars for Minas Gerais state. The results reinforced that farmers, extensionists and breeders really have the same longings relating to the desirable phenotypes for a common bean cultivar in the region.
