RESUMO

The information stored in computer systems are, generally, unknown by the members of an organization. Many times the information needed is available, but people didnt know how to take them and neither about their existence. In the presence of that necessity, the next question was treated: how to locate the organizations informations from your systems information? To resolve it, was performed a qualitative, methodological and application research, to define a map whit the informations of some Embrapas (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) corporate information systems. To construct the map was create a process to systemize the mapping of information. The process is based on the information architecture concepts, in a metadata representation, in an information classification and in a relationship with the enterprise business process. By the use of the proposed process a study was carried out in Embrapa, mapping three corporate systems. Sixty three reports were analyzed and the information map was constructed. Using the map some answers could be taken to improve the decisions, as: what informations are duplicated in the organization and where are they?; which reports have much information?; who could access some information?; which are the business processes related with an information system?. Was concluded that it is possible to represent the existing information of the organizational information systems by an information map and this map could be like a x-rays of your informational environment. An information map is a publisher tool of information, popularizing it and turns into a resource usable for everyone needs.
