RESUMO
Staphylococcus aureus resistant to methicillin have increased significantly in recent years, and is a major public health problem, like is malnutrition, still presents in our country. Therefore it is important to evaluate effects of malnutrition in the neonatal immune response against potential pathogens such as S. aureus. Male Wistar rats were breastfed by dams that received experimental diet during the nursing, containing 17% of protein for nourished group or 8% of protein for undernourished group. After, all were recovered with normoproteic diet, Labina, during the whole lifetime. The animals were maintained in 12/12h dark/light cycle, and weighed daily until 21 days, on alternate days and to date execution of each experiment (90-120 days). Twenty four hours before the experiment, the strains MSSA ATCC 29213 or MRSA ATCC 33591 were plated on blood agar, minutes before, aliquots in tubes containing sterile PBS whose turbidity was adjusted to a concentration of 106 CFU / mL. Alveolar macrophages (AM) were obtained after tracheostomy, through the collection of bronchoalveolar lavage and were formed in vitro: one control system, composed of MA, two test systems, according to strain used. Statistical analysis was performed using the Student t test p<0.05. The results indicate that malnutrition caused weight a reduction in growth, in the rate of phagocytosis and in the production of superoxide and nitric oxide radicals of the MA against S. aureus, with no influence on the adhesion percentage of MA. It can be suggested that the strains used have equal susceptibility to microbicides mechanisms of MA, both in normal and in early malnourished animals, presenting the same ability to maintain the immunological parameters tested close to the values for the normal cells
