RESUMO

A survey of part of the mycobiota associated with the following selected Brazilian indigenous plants was undertaken: Coussapoa floccosa (Urticaceae), Piper crassinervium (Piperaceae), Piper mollicomum (Piperaceae), Pothomorphe umbellata (Piperaceae), Piper gigantifolium (Piperaceae), Piper arboreum (Piperaceae), Helicostylis tomentosa (Moraceae), Ocotea dispersa (Lauraceae), Ocotea odorifera (Lauraceae) and Eugenia cerasiflora (Myrtaceae). Samples were collected in a stretch of forest classified as tropical seasonal semi-deciduous montane forest, located in the municipally of Viçosa (State of Minas Gerais). This place was chosen because it is consider by phytosociologists as representing a fragment of primary Atlantic rainforest. This biome has been relatively poorly studied by mycologists. Emphasis was placed in the study of fungi associated with the plant species Coussapoa floccosa. This species is considered by ecologists as threatened of extinction. Therefore, if fungi found associated with the host species are regarded as host-specific, they should also deserve the recognition of endangered species. The following new fungal species were found associated to C. floccosa and described: Dennisiella coussapoae, Mycosphaerella floccosii, , Pseudocercospora atlantica, Sirosporium fuligineum and Pseudoallosoma nervisequens, that is additionaly described as a new genus. Two new species of Pseudocercospora associated to members of the Piperaceae are also described: P. piperis-arborii and P. piperisgigantifolii. Three plant species were found to be new host of Pseudocercospora piperis: Piper crassinervium, Piper mollicomum and Pothomorphe umbellata. The exam of other plant species revealed the following additional new fungal species: Clypeopycnis strobilaceum, Passalora helicostylis.
