RESUMO

The essential oils of lemon and orange,. are products economic importance to Brazil and obtain these products with high quality, is a technological characteristic of process, highly desirable. Procedures as desterpenation of the oils, increasing its stability, should also be accomplished with the minimum alteration in the characteristics of the products. The extraction and fractionating methods using as solvent supercritical carbon dioxide, becomes being suitable, tends in view the promising results related in bibliography. Even so the study of this technology, addressed for the mentioned products, still depends on the real thermodynamic conception of the process, that facilitates the technological domain and the rational use of resources. In this sense a method capable to predict the solubility of a component or a mixture in the supercritical solvent is fundamental to reach the mentioned objectives: With this same objective, different researchers proposed equations of state and complex mixing roles, but ends up being limited due to characteristic factors of the different components of the mixture. In this work it was intend the application of a simplified methodology for the calculation of the solubility, using Peng-Robinson s equation of state; using quadratic role of mixing. ,The data of liquid-vapor equilibrium are taken in consideration for calculation effect, including all the selected components, and they are not ignorated; as inmost of the studies involving supercritical fluids. In the absence of experimental data of-equilibrium among some components. of the essential oils of lemon and orange and apple s aroma, UNIFAC method was used for the prediction of these same data in low pressure, obtaining binary parameters of interaction for all the binary in the composition of mixture. These results applied in the mixing rule and used in the Peng Robinson s equation of state, presented a significant improvement in the quality of the equation for the prediction of the solubility of the components of elected systems in carbon dioxide pressurized. The obtained results are compared with experimental data of solubility obtained for essential oil of lemon and orange, and apple s aroma.
